Liverpool fans here inside the Football Transfer Tavern have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Naby Keita, after a Leipzig correspondent says there’s “no way” the club will allow the player to leave this summer.
Keita emerged as a powerful, tough tackling central midfielder during RB Leipzig’s debut season in the Bundesliga.
The Guinea international took the German top division by storm and his performances have attracted the attention of many top clubs, including Liverpool.
However, Oliver Hartmann, chief reporter and Leipzig correspondent for respected German sports magazine Kicker says the Reds can forget about signing the midfielder this summer.
Harmann told the ECHO why he believes the 22 year-old will stay put during the transfer window.
‘No way.’ he said. ‘Ralf Rangnick (Leipzig’s sporting director) said that he will not sell any major player this summer. And a ‘no’ from Rangnick means ‘no’. Keita can leave next year for approximately 55million Euros. He has a clause in his contract.’
Some Liverpool fans on Twitter are remaining hopeful their club can still sign Keita…

LFC Update:
-LFC make formal approach for the OX
-Klopp still wants Van DIjk
-We have to break the bank if we want Keita— AnfieldsKopArmy (@AnfieldsKopArmy) June 27, 2017
Can't see us signing VVD or keita but they seem to be the only centre half and midfield players heavily linked. Slightly concerning #lfc

Keita will kick on next season. Release clause kicks in summer 2018. Biggest clubs will come in. Need to bring him now & pay what it takes

Just splash the 80mil on Keita.I totally agree that if we wins titles with him around then his price tag would be of the least concern

I guess I'm the only one who feels that Keita joining us at LFC could severely hamper Can's growth. He needs to play regularly. #LFC
