The Brighton fans are out in full force here in the Transfer Tavern today.
Nothing can contain their excitement for their first Premier League campaign.
Brighton and Hove Albion are about to embark on what could be the most significant season in the club’s history – their first ever Premier League season.
It has been a tough journey for Brighton, sharing a similar story to Bournemouth where they found themselves around the lower leagues of English football, before managing to establish themselves as a mainstay in the Championship.
To many, that is all they thought Brighton could ever achieve; however, they defied the doubters to take a step back into the top tier of English football.
As can be expected with all Premier League new boys, there are a few issues that need resolving at Brighton and on that note, here are the two main issues the club needs to sort before the season kicks off.
Squad morale

Yes, they still got automatic promotion, but the morale of the Brighton squad probably suffered a bit more than seems obvious when Brighton – who failed to notch up the win to capture the title therefore handing the Championship to Newcastle.
As Leicester proved when they won the Premier League title, form at the end of one season can seriously impact the start of the next – as the Foxes went from surviving relegation in dramatic style to hitting the ground running the running the next.
Chris Hughton will need to try and rid his players of the memories of those last few games and try and get them focused on the task ahead, or else it could be disastrous.
An ageing squad

Brighton’s squad for their final game of the season against Aston Villa, had an average age of 29.
That won’t be a major issue now, but Hughton should really consider bringing in some younger talent who can become key players for the club within the next few years, if he wants to remain in the Premier League.
