Whilst Arsenal have bagged Lacazette, Manchester United have signed Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea are on the verge of adding Tiemoue Bakayoko, Spurs appear to be choosing to move forward with what they have.

Simply signing big names may not be necessary for Tottenham.

Spurs have had rotten lock at the national stadium. The North Londoners have lost six of their last nine at Wembley, which presents bad omens ahead of the new season.

Pochettino’s side will have to find out why it’s gone wrong so often at their new home away from home if they want to be contenders this year.

 Who they really need

Despite all the calls for Spurs to sign big names, it’s important to pose the question: How do you improve a squad that’s already over-achieving? Spurs smashed their record points tally by achieving 86 points in the Premier League last season, while they also scored the most and conceded the least with a team who’s strengths are by playing as a team.

It’s important Pochettino doesn’t allow his side to stand still, while his rivals improve, but at the same time, it’s completely understandable why Spurs have been so cautious this summer.
