Southampton: Fans slam Nathan Redmond

Southampton: Fans slam Nathan Redmond - Southampton News

A second disappointing result in a matter of days capped off a miserable week for Southampton, and Nathan Redmond was the focus of plenty of fan frustration against Newcastle.

Can you name all ten obscure Saints players? First up, who is this?

On Tuesday, the Saints were defeated 9-0 in a game that will live long in the memory for all the wrong reasons. Against the Magpies, they were far more competitive, but even a goal from new boy Takumi Minamino and a stunning James Ward-Prowse free-kick couldn’t help them overcome what was eventually a nine-man Newcastle rearguard.

Redmond offered little for Ralph Hasenhuttl and co. The £16.2m-valued 26-year-old (Transfermarkt) struggled to offer enough going forward, and didn’t provide what was required in the other direction to help out makeshift right-back Jack Stephens. As one of the Saints’ more experienced players, the boss would have been expecting more from him.

Should Southampton sell Redmond?

The Saints supporters were far from happy with his display, and they took to social media platform Twitter to share their thoughts.
