According to Eurosport, Southampton have enquired about the possibility of signing Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham in the summer.
Saints eye Abraham
Abraham’s role at Chelsea appears to be under threat as the Blues pursue Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland (The Telegraph).
As such, the Saints, along with West Ham, have enquired about the £36m-valued England international (Transfermarkt). Abraham is said to believe he should be earning around £120,000 per week – considerably more than Southampton’s top earner Fraser Forster, who takes home £75,000 every seven days.
Worth the risk
If Abraham demanded such a salary even if he were to move to St. Mary’s Stadium, it would leave Southampton with a difficult decision to make. Giving so much to one player would be pretty much unheard of for the south-coast outfit.
Would you like to sign Abraham?
However, Abraham would likely be worth the risk. Throughout his career, the 23-year-old has proven to be a deadly finisher – he is Chelsea’s top goalscorer this season with 12 goals (BBC), while he already has 90 goals to his name across all of his clubs at senior level (Transfermarkt). He also possesses six caps for his country – there is no doubt he is a top-quality striker. If the Saints could convince him to join them, it could well be an inspired signing.
In other news, Southampton fans slammed this man against Everton.
