Larsson has attended their last two games, as noted by BBC Sport, and seems very interested in taking over the vacancy with Martin confirming Larsson has travelled to Stockholm to “meet potential backroom staff”.
The former Celtic captain has experienced mixed fortunes as a manager so far, winning 1.43 points per game with Landskrona but enduring a torrid time with Helsingborg during which the club was relegated to the second tier of Swedish football. Larsson did, in fact, take the reins at his former club again in June this year, only to leave a couple of months later due to threats received on social media.
Larsson had been linked with the Celtic vacancy following the sacking of Ronny Deila in 2016, including an endorsement from former Parkhead team-mate Stiliyan Petrov, as reported in The Herald at the time, but he lost out to Brendan Rodgers.
Some Southend fans reacted on Twitter and it’s safe to say he isn’t held in as high a regard as he is by those of a green and white persuasion.
Not good enough

Absolutely not, shocking record, sideways appointment

A rather damning indictment of the rumour is this Twitter poll of Southend fans, some not sure that the timing is right for someone with no managerial experience of League One.
Would you want Henrik Larsson as Blues’ next boss?

Getting a big name in will surely lift the place. Nothing to lose imo.

I agree, but Henrik Larsson isn’t a big name in management, is he?

Nothing against him personally, he was a great player but not what we need now. We need to start being realistic and appointing a manager who knows League 1 and who we can afford. Give Waddock a chance as we need the uncertainty ended.

Voted no but fairly open minded if he has been able to convince RM that he can deliver…. maybe Larsson is a League One expert #footballmanager! Based on what I’ve read though wouldn’t be my choice, I think we need someone with a proven track record who knows League One.
