The Football Transfer Tavern is where rumours come to fly or die and hypocrisy is rife.
Chelsea’s decision to sell tavern darling Juan Mata to Premier League rivals Manchester United has brought around the general reaction of: “Jose has lost his marbles.”
The Arsenal fans, who have no reason whatsoever in putting their nose in the Mata deal, are copping a lot of flak from the regulars in the tavern because ol’ Arsene Wenger has been sticking his nose in.
I like Arsene. We all do down here. But he doesn’t help himself.
After his hypocritical comments over the unfairness of the Mata move, the punters down here were quick to shout abuse at the TV over his previous transfer dealings.
When Wenger’s press conference had finished, a couple of Manchester City fans pinned their shirts next to a Le Professeur photo behind the bar.
Then a United fan did the same with his and a Chelsea fan followed suit by putting his one up with a certain Englishman’s name on the back.
Oh, Arsene…
