We have this one punter, in the Football Transfer Tavern, who gets on with everyone. He is a top bloke and is a pleasure to have around the place. However, the one issue with him is that he’s so bloomin’ fickle.
When Manchester United’s dominance – remember those days – really kicked in, he would don the Red Devils strip in the tavern every matchday.
When Roman Abramovich rocked up with his chequebook, low and behold, a week later, in comes the tavern’s favourite punter claiming his love for Didier Drogba.
It doesn’t end there; in more recent seasons he has made various trips to the Camp Nou to visit his new favourite team – while there, he also popped into the Spanish Transfer Tavern, where my brother works.
However, yesterday takes the biscuit. Following Manchester City’s 6-3 mauling of Arsenal, he left the tavern at the full-time whistle and when he came back in for the Hull City vs Stoke City game, he was sporting the full Citeh kit.
We’ve now decided to give him the nickname ‘Drake’.
