Spurs fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been sweating over Mauricio Pochettino’s future of late with the Argentine being aligned with Barcelona following Luis Enrique’s revelation that he will move on at the end of the season.
Reports have already suggested that the White Hart Lane chief is a candidate the Catalans are considering, but there have at least been some positive developments for Lilywhites supports from the man himself.
Indeed, ‘Poch’ has been speaking about the club’s summer plans and has revealed that he’s been talking with chairman Daniel Levy about potential comings and goings at the end of the season.
When quizzed about future transfers and strategies being put in place (via the London Standard), he said:
“Of course I talk with the chairman, as always. We have a very close relationship and we talk nearly every day. We are always talking to try to improve and to learn from our mistakes.
“We learn from our experiences but the good thing is that we have a very good relationship, we are very close. With [new chief scout] Steve Hitchen, we are working hard to try to find players to improve our squad for next season.
“We always believe in our targets and that they can help us. Sometimes it will be good, others not so good, but we are excited now to watch and assess players and help the team achieve the things we want.”
This is doubly positive for Spurs supporters as it hints that Pochettino has targets in mind heading towards the summer, while also suggesting that he might well stick around despite links with Barca.
