Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern are fretting over Erik Lamela, following news of further injury problems for the Argentine attacker.
The 25-year-old winger started the season in decent form, notching up two goals and three assists in his first 14 appearances, but has not featured since the end of October.
Not much has been heard since in regards to the South American’s status, with many Spurs fans in the Tavern wondering if the club have intentionally been leaving them in the dark.
But the north London outfit have now confirmed via their official Twitter account that the 23-cap international will undergo a hip operation on Saturday that will result him returning to action next season.

Spurs went on to explain that he underwent a ‘comprehensive rehabilitation process’ but was unable to reach the level required to return to first-team training.

The player has achieved a good level of function, however he has been unable to reach the stage required to make a full return to training.

Therefore, following ongoing extensive consultation with specialists, surgery has been agreed by all as the best course of action.

Tottenham punters in the Tavern are naturally disappointed to hear that Lamela won’t feature again before the end of 2016/17, but are looking forward to see him back in action next season.
