Harry Redknapp has sent another message of his intention to sign highly-rated young striker Connor Wickham from Ipswich, after he sent Spurs scouts to Portman Road to run the rule over the 17-year-old.
Interest in Wickham has been building for some time and White Hart Lane seems the most likely destination for the rangey forward, after favourite for his signature, Harry Redknapp, had his talent-spotters out again during Ipswich’s 1-1 draw with Hull City. The youngster had a good game for the Tractor Boys, and following his spectacular hat-trick in Town’s 6-0 mauling of Doncaster Rovers last week, his stock is continually rising.
Redknapp, who loaned Robbie Keane to West Ham in January, is clearly unhappy with the input of his forwards in the league; following last night’s dreadful 3-1 defeat to Blackpool the Spurs manager was incredulous,
“We missed chance after chance after chance. I’ve never seen so many open goals missed in my life. You can’t miss eight open goals and expect to win.”
