Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern have been talking rather nervously about the situation at Barcelona for a little while now, with the popular belief that should the pressure get to Luis Enrique in the Nou Camp dugout their own manager, Mauricio Pochettino, would be an immediate target for the Catalans.
So yesterday’s revelation that the Barca boss is going to step down at the end of the season was met with some looks of fear by all with an interest in the White Hart Lane club, and TuttoMercatoWeb have dropped a bombshell that has set pulses racing by claiming that the Spaniards are set to hold talks with the tactician in the coming 48 hours.
They reveal that club officials are due to meet the Argentine in the wake of the Enrique news, with the Spurs boss seemingly a prime candidate to replace him.
As well as ‘Poch’, Ronald Koeman of Everton is also a candidate mentioned by TMW, although there is no timescale put to a potential meeting with the Dutchman, who famously spent some of his playing career at Barcelona.
This information somewhat corroborates with Sky Sports’ Guillem Balague’s views, with the Spanish football guru having claimed on Wednesday that the La Liga champions are “fans” of Pochettino.
It looks like the end of the week will be a nervous time for Spurs fans in the Tavern.
