The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern are over the moon with the news that the club has announced the signing of Nikola Katic from Slaven Belupo. The club made the announcement via Twitter, with a link to the Rangers website, and the fans will be allowed to get their hopes up over this one as the young Croatian has potential to go on to do big things in Glasgow.

Katic will most likely slot into the Gers central defensive position with ease, alongside Connor Goldson who the club have also been heavily linked with in the last few weeks. If the club can get the Goldson deal over the line then Steven Gerrard will have his centre-back pairing sorted well in advance of the Scottish Premier League season kicking off, and with Goldson being just 25 and Katic being 21, it’s definitely a long-term move.
The Gers will be hoping that Katic’s signing will be able to help them turn their fortunes around this season. The club are yet to win any silverware since making the return to the Scottish Premier League and instead, have had to sit on the sidelines whilst Celtic sweep up every trophy they see. Brendan Rodgers’ side have won Scottish football’s first-ever double-treble and the Bluenoses will be determined not to let it happen again.

Steven Gerrard has wasted no time in the transfer market, getting in the players he wants quickly, which the fans have loved. It’ll all be about not raising expectations too high now, despite the positive business so far.
