The Stoke fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are relieved about this one…
Stoke have enjoyed a mixed start to the Premier League season thus far – but they have reason to be optimistic thanks to a recent revelation from Mark Hughes.
According to the Mirror, Hughes has revealed that Xherdan Shaqiri will not be leaving the club – despite suggestions that he could look to move on come January.
The Stoke boss said: “Shaq is moving into a new property at the moment, so that would suggest he’s happy here and settled”.
Hughes continued: “Take it from me, he isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon”.
Rumours stemmed surrounding the future of Shaqiri following a revelation by his agent that implied a January move could be on the cards.
Speaking to Corriere dello Sport (via the Stoke Sentinel), Shaqiri’s agent said: “January is a long way off, there will be time to evaluate the various options”. Whilst this was not an admission of a potential deal – it did leave cause for concern for the Stoke fans in the Tavern.
The Swans are yet to win under new boss Bob Bradley and are currently sat in the relegation zone.
Could Shaqiri confirm his future with a fantastic performance? The Potters in the Football Transfer Tavern certainly hope so…
