Stoke City would be stupid to sign these 2 players this month – Agreed?

Stoke City have begun picking up results in the Premier League once again after a tough start to the campaign and their fans here in the Transfer Tavern are happy with how things are progressing.

In one of the toughest Premier League campaigns we’ve seen in years, the gap between those in the top-half and the relegation zone seems to be increasing every week and if Stoke are to get near the European places in the coming months, they’re going to have to start going on long win streaks.

They’ve got some cracking players down at the Bet365 Stadium these days but with the transfer window now upon us, it’s important that Mark Hughes spends wisely and brings in the right players in an attempt to pick up as many points as possible.

But, arguably, what’s most important is bringing players to the club that aren’t going to upset the balance they’ve got flowing through the squad.

There have been some murmurings over in the Stoke City corner of the pub and some of the Potters locals haven’t been that impressed with some of the players being linked with the side.

So with that in mind, here’s two players Stoke City would be stupid to sign this month according to our landlord…

Saido Berahino

Stoke are interested in West Brom striker Saido Berahino who isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but there’s little doubting that when he’s in-form and playing well, he’s one of the best goalscorers around.

But he’s also a player that is well known for being vocal and going against his manager’s orders and right now, Stoke could do with players that want to do nothing but work hard for the team.

He’s not the sort of man that fits that bill and sometimes you’ve got to think of the whole of the team and not just the individual you’re bringing in.

Davie Selke

RB Leipzig have quickly become one of the biggest forces in German football, much to the dislike of some of our ‘proper’ footballing punters in the pub.

Regardless of what you think of their continued rise up the ranks in Germany, they’re doing very well indeed but one man that is struggling to feature is Davie Selke.

The 21-year-old striker is one man that hasn’t quite broken into the first-team ranks this season and he’s been linked with a move to the Bet365 Stadium in recent weeks.

But what the Potters need right now is a striker that will score goals week-in, week-out- not a youngster who is struggling for first-team football. This isn’t the time to gamble.
