Stoke manager Tony Pulis is set to shock the Premier League by making a move for a Barcelona youngster in an attempt to rid his side of their reputation as a ‘long ball’ team. Pulis has already established his side as a Premier League team and is now looking to bring Barcelona youngster Oriol Romeu to the Britannia Stadium on a season long loan to boost the Potters aims for a top half finish.
Romeu, 18, is a defensive midfielder and has been receiving rave reviews in Spain for his performances in the reserves. The Catalan club have already farmed several top quality youngsters in the last year, with Pedro, Jonathan Dos Santos and Sergio Busquets having all broken into the first team and Guardiola also has high hopes for the 18-year-old Romeu, but would like him to get some experience with a loan move before attempting to break the first team at the Nou Camp.
Pulis’ side have gained somewhat of a reputation as a ‘long ball’ ball side in their time in the Premier League, yet the Stoke man is insistent that there is more to the Potters than Rory Delap’s long throw. A move for the young Barca prodigy would certainly raise eyebrows and make Stoke’s rivals take notice of their intentions to change their style.
