‘Super class’, ‘A real talent’ – Chelsea fans desperate to see midfielder in blue next season

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been calling for Ruben Loftus-Cheek to be made a starter at Stamford Bridge next season after his incredible performance against Costa Rica at Elland Road. The Three Lions won 2-0 at Elland Road, with Marcus Rashford and Danny Welbeck getting the goals in the nation’s final warm-up match.

Despite the fact that he didn’t find the net, Loftus-Cheek impressed almost everyone who watched him as he dominated the midfield and laid on the opener for Rashford, although it’s fair to say Rashford did most of the work with his 25-yard strike into the top corner. The performance from the on-loan Palace man may just have given Gareth Southgate more questions than answers as the youngster battles for a starting spot at the World Cup.

Fans of both Crystal Palace and Chelsea will want to see the double-barrelled dynamite midfielder playing for them next season, although it looks increasingly likely that the England international won’t be sent out on loan again as his meteoric rise continues. If Loftus-Cheek does start in the World Cup, he could have four or five career-defining matches and give Chelsea no choice but to start him upon his return to London.

The Chelsea fans are finally starting to realise that Loftus-Cheek could be what the club has been missing. The Blues have been looking for a partner for N’Golo Kante since Nemanja Matic left, with Danny Drinkwater, Ross Barkley and Tiemoue Bakayoko all failing to make the cut alongside the Frenchman, whilst the answer has been on-loan at Selhurst Park.
