Having watched Arsene Wenger splash the cash at long last over the course of the summer, the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are hopeful he will do so again.

While the Frenchman, as well as the club as a whole, aren’t well renowned for his penchant in spending during the New Year sales, our north London locals are hopeful he’ll change that.

In truth, buying in that particular market could be the difference between making a truly competitive run at the Premier League title at long last, or falling away in a manner only known to those at the Emirates.

Perhaps the notion of a big money striker arriving at the Gunners is the most exciting thing for our drinkers, though buying in that position during this time of year is notoriously difficult.

With that in mind, as stacked as their midfield can look on paper at times, strengthening that area of the pitch may be wise for Wenger.

So, without further ado, surely ONE of these THREE midfielders could join Arsenal in January.

Though Exeter City youngster Ethan Ampadu arriving in January would do little for their title challenge in terms of a first-team sense, landing such a starlet would give everyone at the club a major boost.

Just 16 years of age, the Welsh youngster has already appeared in the Grecians’ first-team a few times and looks like a very classy holding midfielder in making.

Leandro Paredes

Roma’s classy operator, Leandro Paredes, has been touted as a potential target for the Gunners in January.

Another man able to sit back and hold, though still boasting the sort of passing range to make life work at the Emirates, the 22-year-old Argentine would be another wonderful squad option.
