West Ham United fans here in the Tavern are preparing for a relegation dogfight, as things are starting to hot up at the foot of the Premier League table.
The Hammers are staring down the barrel of relegation to the Championship, as David Moyes faces an uphill task from here on in to keep West Ham United in the top-flight. Indeed, the London club faced a trip to the Liberty Stadium in their last Premier League fixture, that saw many of our local residents’ relegation fears confirmed after a heavy 4-1 defeat against Swansea.
Sadly, after such a shocking performance by arguably the Hammers’ strongest starting line-up, David Moyes has some serious decisions to make in preparation for the visit of Burnley. Indeed, many key players struggled to shine in Wales last weekend, and may find themselves losing out on a place in the side for today’s encounter at the London Stadium.
Therefore, with today’s match against Sean Dyche’s Burnley having a huge say in West Ham United’s Premier League future, Moyes surely cannot give these TWO players a place in the starting line-up…
Javier Hernandez
Javier Hernandez was mesmorising during his first stint in the Premier League at Manchester United, but has been rather disappointment so far this season since making the move to the English capital.
Indeed, last weekend’s game against Swansea City was no exception for the Mexican striker, after becoming isolated for the majority of the game as he offered very little up top for the Hammers.
Therefore, after seeing Michail Antonio score two goals in his last two appearances for West Ham United, Moyes should look to take Hernandez out of the side to gift the Englishman a well deserved starting place.
Cheikhou Kouyate
The Senegalese international has been influential at times so far this season, having formed a formidable partnership in the middle of midfield with captain Mark Noble.
However, the 28-year-old gave arguably his worst performance all season during last weekend’s loss against Swansea, after being guilty as anyone for the first-half showing and struggled to gain a foothold in the entire match.
Therefore, David Moyes should look to bring January signing Joao Mario back into the starting line-up against Burnley, in the hope that the Portuguese midfielder can offer more quality in possession and the final third.
