Our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to the summer months in order to see if the managerial position will get resolved. Indeed, as ever, it’s proving to be a cloud to hang over Stamford Bridge. 

Luis Enrique has long been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this year, with results have not been going Antonio Conte’s way after some fairly tense press conferences. Furthermore, the Italian seems disgruntled with life at Chelsea following two unsuccessful transfer windows and in general, the team doesn’t seem to be performing as it should be.

With a new man in charge, there is the potential of new signings, and our regulars will be hoping that Enrique will tap into his vast knowledge of the Spanish league to cherry pick TWO La Liga players to join him at Chelsea, should he take over.

Luis Enrique had a fabulous three years at Barcelona, winning a double and a treble in the process, so it’s obvious to see why the local Blues in the bar are getting a little excited over the recent links.

So, our landlord has done his Spanish homework and scouted TWO players that could potentially move with Enrique to Chelsea in the summer…

Lucas Hernandez

The Atletico Madrid defender is one of the best in the La Liga this season so far and, with his top-rated displays coupled with his ability to shut out the opposition, its all a wonder as he is still only 22. The Frenchman can play in the centre of the defence or on the left and is very comfortable in both areas, only adding another string to his bow.

With the ageing Gary Cahill, landing an ideal replacement waiting in the wings would be a great start to life at Chelsea, helping Hernandez get used to life on these shores.

Iago Aspas

Although Iago Aspas is 30-years-old, the Celta Vigo winger is having one of his best seasons so far in La La Liga. He’s scored 19 goals in 28 appearances and assisted four, with him playing on the right-hand side of an attacking front three.

Indeed, this would be ideally suited to Enrique’s favoured 433 formation, giving Chelsea a wonderfully prolific inside forward to flank the likes of Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud. Aspas may have struggled at Liverpool, though has enjoyed a wonderful few years since.

With the possibility of Willian departing in the summer, Aspas would certainly fill the gap for a couple of years.
