Surely these 2 players won’t be in Conte’s first match day squad next season

Chelsea supporters in the Transfer Tavern are somewhat shocked having lost out on the signing of Romelu Lukaku.

A story that has dominated the Summer’s headlines has been Lukaku’s reported return to the Champions.

It appeared that the transfer was complete, Lukaku was a blue once more and that it was a matter of when, not if, Chelsea were going to announce the deal.

Much to the astonishment of the football community, the prolific talisman has head north to Manchester this summer, to reunite with ex-boss Jose Mourinho.

There has been a flurry of reports linking the Blues with moves for centre-forwards such as Alvaro Morata and Andrea Belotti.

However, the reality of Chelsea’s ruthless transfer policy is that there will be many departures – many of which could be completed before the Blues announce another signing.

Our landlord has opted to look at two players who are likely to be absent from Conte’s first match day squad as defending Champions.

Izzy Brown

A product of Chelsea’s notorious loan policy, Izzy Brown looks destined to spend a fourth period away from Stamford Bridge, with the Premier League’s new arrival, Brighton interested in the forward. The 20-year-old scored eight goals and provided five assists for Rotherham and Huddersfield in the Championship last season, and it is rumoured that he could move to the South coast for the forthcoming season.

It would be a hugely beneficial for Brown’s development to secure a Premier League loan move at the age of 20.

Diego Costa

Diego Costa has dominated the majority of Chelsea’s transfer speculation since news broke that Antonio Conte informed the Spaniard that he was no longer required at Stamford Bridge via text. Despite being a crucial figure in both of Chelsea’s recent league successes and having scored 59 goals in 120 games for the Blues, the 28-year-old is primed to depart the club.

Costa’s desire to return to Atletico has been apparent throughout his career as a Chelsea player, and despite the fact that Atletico is unable to register players until January, it seems that the deal is virtually complete. The press is reporting that Costa has already said his goodbyes to his Blue teammates ahead of his return to Spain. One of the most polarising characters in the division looks set to leave the Premier League.
