Surely these 2 players won’t be in Wenger’s first match day squad next season

Arsenal supporters in the Transfer Tavern are still teeming with delight having completed the transfer of Alexandre Lacazette.

It truly is an exciting period for our resident Gunners fans. Following the disappointment that their 5th place Premier League finish caused, the signing of Lacazette is a clear signal from the club that they’re looking to address the failures of last season. Sead Kolasinac was Arsenal’s first summer recruit, and they look poised to continue to reinforce Wenger’s team, as the club plot and attempt to return to the Champions League at the first time of asking.

While much of the focus has been placed on potential arrivals in North London, the reality of the transfer window is that there will be departures too. Several names have been linked with moves away from the FA Cup winners this summer. Our landlord has opted to look at two players who surely won’t be present for Arsenal on the opening day of the new season.

Lucas Perez

Despite scoring seven goals in 21 appearances for the Gunners last season, Lucas Perez is likely to leave. The signing of Alexandre Lacazette is seemingly the last nail in the coffin as far as the 28-year-old’s Arsenal career is concerned. Having thwarted the efforts of Everton to sign the striker, it seemed that the Gunners had made an astute acquisition. Nonetheless, Perez wasn’t given sufficient opportunities to display his talents – he only made two league starts for the North London club.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Another Arsenal player who has been linked with a move away from North London is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Despite featuring on 45 occasions for the Gunners last season, the 23-year-old is in the final year of his contract and has reportedly interested the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool.

While Arsenal may be apprehensive at the thought of losing the ‘Ox’ – who provides the team with priceless versatility and lightning speed – they’ll be more concerned at the thought of him departing on a free transfer. Accordingly, it is highly likely that Chamberlain will leave Wenger’s team this summer as Arsenal look to amass money to reinvest in the squad.
