Arsenal supporters have been in high spirits in the Transfer Tavern in the last week or so after seeing their team reach the quarter-finals of the Europa League courtesy of a 5-1 aggregate success over AC Milan in the last 16.

Arsene Wenger’s men held a commanding 2-0 advantage over the Italian giants going into last Thursday’s return leg at the Emirates Stadium, although they were made to sweat as Hakan Calhanoglu gave Gennaro Gattuso’s side the lead in North London. However, the Gunners responded well through a brace from Danny Welbeck and Granit Xhaka’s third goal of the campaign to book their place in the last eight, where they will face CSKA Moscow next month.

Consequently, there have been many delighted Arsenal fans in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are daring to dream about possible Europa League glory this season, which in turn would secure them a spot in the next term’s Champions League.

In the meantime though, there has been much for our resident Gunners supporters to get their teeth into, not least recent reports suggesting that midfielder Jack Wilshere is indeed set to leave the club at the expiration of his contract this summer.

The 26-year-old came up through the ranks at the North London giants and has since gone on to make 191 senior appearances for the Gunners, with recurrent injury problems restricting that tally quite significantly.

And it appears that those injury concerns are having a key say in Arsenal’s reported contract offer, with recent reports suggesting that the Gunners are ‘refusing to budge’ on such offer, thus leaving Wilshere with the prospect of having to leave the Emirates come the end of the season.

Calum Chambers

While injuries have played a part in his plight so far this season, Calum Chambers still only has six Premier League appearances to show for his efforts this term.

Like many young English players that have made the move to the Emirates, there was much anticipation when the 23-year-old arrived back in 2014, but the fact he was shipped out on loan to Middlesbrough last time round underlines his lowly position in the pecking order.

As such, the three-time England international could well seek a fresh challenge come the summer.

Lucas Perez

Lucas Perez made the move to Arsenal back in the summer of 2016 for £17.1 million, only to bag just once in the Premier League last term (albeit six times in other competitions).

As such, the 29-year-old was shipped out on loan to Deportivo at the start of this season, the side he left Arsenal for back in 2016, and with four goals and four assists in La Liga this time round, it’s clear that he is fairing better in Spain than he has done in England.

And with the forward ranks at the Emirates strengthened during January, it doesn’t look like Perez has much of a future at Arsenal, and thus could be on the lookout for a permanent move in the summer.
