Swansea City fans will be retiring to the corners of the Tavern after Italian football reporter Gianluca Dimarzio reported that Napoli have turned down a club-record bid from Swansea City for Manolo Gabbiadini.
The Italian international striker, who has also featured for several other Serie A clubs in the form of Atalanta, Juventus, Bologna and Sampdoria, signed for Napoli in an £8.75 million move last January. Since then, he has become a vital component in Maurizio Sarri’s side.
The 24-year old is predominantly a striker, but is a versatile forward and can also play as a secondary striker or out wide.
It is also reported that Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund are in the race for the signature of Gabbiadini, who has netted once and provided 2 assists in nine league appearances, as well as scoring four goals in four Europa League appearances this campaign.
Our landlord thinks that Swansea are desperate for a striker, with the Welsh side having also been linked to Fiorentina’s Giueseppe Rossi and QPR’s Charlie Austin in recent weeks as they look to acquire a goalscorer who can save the club from relegation.
However, it now seems unlikely that Huw Jenkins will bid any more than the initial £16 million that he offered for the Italian.
