What a wonderful season it has been for the Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern.

The Bhoys secured the league title many weeks ago (much the annoyance of the Rangers fans in the Tavern) and they have been celebrating ever since – it’s safe to say Brendan Rodgers’ men have pure domination of Scottish football at the minute.

Furthermore, a real clean up at the Scottish football awards and a place in the Scottish Cup final has really put the icing on the cake for the Hoops, but our landlord feels that now is the time for Celtic to really put their foot on the gas and enhance their club whilst they are ahead.

He has pinpointed this summer transfer window as a really important one for Brendan Rodgers and his men and expects some real quality to come through the gates of Celtic Park, in an attempt to be more competitive in next season’s European competition.

The Celtic punters in the Tavern agree and they have been speculating on just who could be arriving at their club in the summer and although money is tight is Scottish football, the signing of Scott Sinclair last summer proved you can get quality in you are shrewd.

With that said, let’s take a look at TWO summer signings that would seriously enhance the Celtic squad…

Dominic Solanke

A product of Chelsea’s impressive youth academy, Solanke is out of contract with the Blues in the Summer and with Brendan Rodgers knowing all about the Chelsea academy having worked there – the feeling at Celtic Park is that the Hoops boss could tempt Solanke to the club and only pay Chelsea for his development fees in the process.

Of course, Solanke is unproven at senior level but having shown a lot of potential at England youth level and with the Chelsea U23 squad, our landlord believes the youngster would be the perfect back up for Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths and could even challenge the duo for their places in the not so distant future.

James McClean

The Republic of Ireland winger would be a shrewd move for boss, Brendan Rodgers and with European competition in mind – McClean would certainly add more strength in depth to a Celtic squad one injury away from being in a crisis from a wingers point of view.

Whilst James Forrest and Scott Sinclair have picked up most of the slack this season, the lack of faith in Gary Mackay-Steven could well mean Rodgers enters the market for another winger and McClean would be a brilliant option for the Scottish Champions.
