The poor West Ham fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have not had too much to cheer about this season.
The Hammers’ toothless forwards haven’t been helped by more injuries to Andy Carroll, a leaky defence has seen them with the worst goal difference outside of the bottom five teams, and although they are currently 12th place in the league, failure to win their final match away at Burnley could see them drop as low as 16th.
Some of the regulars here say they are still settling in to their new stadium, others say the problems lie much deeper than that.
Just when it looked as if they had turned a corner with an assured display against Spurs, they go on holiday early and crumble against Liverpool.
One thing is for sure, and that is West Ham need to show serious signs of improvement or next year they will find things very difficult.
The Hammers fans have been chatting here at the Transfer Tavern to find out what they think is going wrong, and which TWO players manager Slaven Bilic can bring in to get the bubbles blowing again at the London Stadium….
Here are TWO shrewd signings the Hammers can secure this summer to enhance the squad…..
Jermaine Defoe

The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern would love to see Jermaine Defoe back in the claret and blue.
He may be turning 35 next season but Defoe’s record speaks for itself, and with the goal shy Hammers in need of a lethal finisher there can be few who would turn their noses up at the opportunity to sign the England man on a free transfer.
And if Andy Carroll can stay fit we may just see a very dangerous partnership indeed.
Certainly a ver shrewd signing for the Hammers.
Pablo Zabaleta

Another player who is in his thirties but will bring to West Ham’s defence exactly what they need.
With two Premier League titles and an FA Cup to his name (amongst many other honours) the Argentinian full back can bring some organisation and determination to a back line that is sorely missing some sort of leadership.
West Ham need to stop conceding easy goals and with the experience of a player like Zabaleta marshalling the defence, they will be a much trickier team to play against.
