Celtic face Rosenborg tomorrow night as they look to salvage their Europa League dreams.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have had a disappointing European campaign so far this year. In a group with Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig, Celtic have struggled and need to win tomorrow night.
Despite beating RB Leipzig in the last round of fixtures, Celtic still need to rely on Salzburg beating the German side.
Domestically, Celtic look back to normal after a slightly slow start and central to that form has been on loan defender, Filip Benkovic.
The defender joined from Leicester City over the summer and has been likened to former Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk by Frank McAvennie.
Leicester City signed the 21-year-old from Dinamo Zagreb over the summer in a £13 million deal and immediately loaned him to the Scottish giants.
Celtic have only conceded six goals in the league this summer and that has been mainly down to the performances of the Croatian defender.
He’s played seven games in the league this season and has only conceded two goals within that.
Due to his impressive performances, it might be hard to sign the defender on a permanent deal but it’s certainly a transfer that Rodgers needs to push for.
With Dedryck Boyata’s long-term future at the club uncertain, Rodgers needs a young centreback to stabilise his defence and take the club forward.
It will be tough but following McAvennie’s comments, the pressure is certainly on Rodgers to push the deal through.
