Rather amazingly, Tottenham Hotspur pipped Everton to the reported £30m signing of Moussa Sissoko late last night during the closing stages of Deadline Day. 

While the Frenchman enjoyed a stunning European Championships with France over the course of the summer, he proved largely ineffective for Newcastle United as they succumbed to relegation.

Clearly, the 27-year-old is a powerful marauding midfielder who can give Mauricio Pochettino a much needed Plan B when he requires.

Amid the attacking intricacy of masterful technicians such as Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen, the Les Blues ace can help the North London outfit break through stubborn defences, rather than having to play through them.

Still, the divisive nature of the man is always likely to split opinion.

Not only about whether or not he was in fact worth that sort of figure but where will he actually play?!

Pochettino has an embarrassment of riches in his engine room heading into the venture into the Champions League and has often utilised a number of players in different midfield positions.

Such is the vast array of exciting options available to Pochettino, it remains unclear whether or not Sissoko will actually be handed a starting berth.

Still, if he is, the 27-year-old can really give the Argentine another dynamic option.

He may have had a poor European Championships, though Dele Alli remains one of the most prodigious talents on the continent.

After taking to life in the Premier League like a duck to water, the 20-year-old will have to prove himself all over again this term.

It would be silly to bet against him.

LAM: Erik Lamela

Erik Lamela is fast becoming Tottenham’s most important player, such is the nature of his rapid development under compatriot Pochettino.

The Argentina international has added grit and guts to guile after a poor first season in North London.

A powerful forward, he boasts the sort of skill required to make him one of the most entertaining players in England.
