Though Antonio Conte is yet to formally takeover at Stamford Bridge, he has already splashed a whopping £33m on a brand new striker to freshen up his attacking ranks in West London. 

Enter, Michy Batshuayi.

Flop loan pair Radamel Falcao and Alexandre Pato have already departed, and with Diego Costa typically inconsistent; it doesn’t seem far fetched to suggest that he might find himself in the Chelsea first team when the Premier League returns in August.

Particularly exciting about this transfer for Chelsea fans is that it will give the 22-year old an opportunity to link up with his Belgian compatriot Eden Hazard, a pair who have performed so well together on an international stage.

Whilst it seems inevitable that the incoming Italian will look for additional attacking talent, the punters here in the Tavern think that he has everything he needs to produce an outstanding strike force next season.

Lets take a look at the FRIGHTENING Chelsea 2016/17 front four, including Michy Batshuayi.

Pedro – Left Wing

Pedro’s first season in England was a terribly disappointing one for a number of Chelsea fans.

After exploding onto the scene with a debut goal against West Brom, he failed to replicate this form going forward, with his performances marred by frustrating inconsistency.

The Spanish winger has since come out and discussed how difficult he found the transition to England last year, whilst also maintaining that he is happy at Chelsea.

With his transitional season now at an end, Chelsea fans here in the Tavern are hopeful that we might see Pedro back at his best next summer, as we saw during his time with Barcelona.

An inform Pedro is undoubtedly one of the world’s best wingers; and if he can reach and maintain that level of form – he will form a part of a frightening Chelsea front line next year.

Eden Hazard – CAM

Another player that has had a poor 2016 so far is Eden Hazard, with his performances garnering national critism in both the Tavern and the British press.

Coming off of the back of an excellent 2014/15 season, in which he cleaned up in the individual trophy awards; last year was marred by terrible inconsistent performances by Hazard, especially when compared to how good all fans know he can be.

An in-form Pedro would allow the 25-year old to switch to his preferred number 10 position, which in turn would rid him of his defensive burden, whilst also allowing him to run directly at defences.

This will of course mean the end of Oscar’s spot in the Chelsea first team, with his transfer looking likely.

If Eden Hazard can regain his form next year, as he should do in his proffered position; he will once again prove how good he really is.

Willian – Right Wing

Was there ever any doubt? After his exploits last year, Willian will be the first name on the Chelsea team sheet going into next season.

Whilst the players around him for the most part performed badly last year, Willian was the one shining light of the Chelsea first team.

It was down to his last minute goals alone that the Blues weren’t battling relegation last season.

He did tail off towards the end of the year, but that was definitely expected given the performances he was tuning in week in and week out.

He offers everything; unstoppable set pieces, frantic forward work, and a defensive engine to match. The perfect winger; he HAS to be in the Chelsea first team next year.

Michu Batshuayi – Striker

The only new name in this Chelsea forward line; it was difficult to place Batshuayi straight in the first team over Diego Costa, but it definitely makes sense.

The Spaniard, for the magnificent striker that he is – has a number of draw backs. First and foremost, he is inconsistent. He, along with the rest of the Chelsea strike force last year, performed well below par.

Much more will be expected of him next year.

On top of that, his attitude and media portrayal have certainly hurt his reputation, and it will take him time to regain that.

Batshuayi will come to the club off of the back of a successful European Championship campaign, and will no doubt be hungry to kick on.

At £33 million, he isn’t be brought in to sit on the bench, and if he can get a good pre season behind him; there is no reason that he wont be starting on day one.

Offering pace and technical ability, whilst also able to act as a target man; he will become crucial to the Chelsea team next year whether he starts on day one or not.
