The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern were oh so excited to see Gylfi Sigurdsson notch his first goal for the club last night.
And what a goal it was.
Indeed, the £45m Icelandic star hit an audacious volley from 50 yards last night in a 1-1 draw away to Hajduk Split, a result that saw the Toffees progress into the Europa League proper.
As you can imagine, it went down a storm in our bar.
While much was made about the price tag with which he came, Sigurdsson’s first goal for his new charges shows just what a player Ronald Koeman now has at his disposal on Merseyside.
