The midfield Pellegrino must start for Southampton against Swansea

The Southampton fans down by the bar are quite simply fed up with this summer’s transfer window.

Yet again, in a summer of transition the south-coast side have had clubs come knocking for their best players.

This time, skipper Virgil van Dijk intends to elevate his career and sees Liverpool as the ideal destination. The Dutchman has resorted to handing in a transfer request in order to get his dream move to Anfield.

New boss, Mauricio Pellegrino certainly has his hands full, but the Argentine has managed to recruit a new player this week.

Mario Lemina has arrived from Juventus in a club record deal reportedly worth up to £18.1m (20m euros) on a five-year deal.

The Gabon midfielder could go straight into the team to face Swansea on the opening day.

Take a look at the midfield Pellegrino must choose to get the Saints off to a good start…

DM – ORIOL ROMEU

After leaving Chelsea, many would have been forgiven for thinking Oriol Romeu would never return to the Premier League. But the Spaniard exponentially progressed with Valencia and has given worthy defensive contributions to Southampton.

He could build a formidable partnership with this man…

DM – MARIO LEMINA

The Saints new boy was largely ignored by Massimiliano Allegri last season, but Lemina has the talent to be a success on the south-coast.

The midfielder has the ability to dribble from deep and his versatility means he can also be deployed from wide. Southampton fans should be happy with this one.

CAM – DUSAN TADIC

The midfielder enjoyed another successful season last campaign. Tadic is one of very few Southampton players who has the keys to unlock a defence at ease.

The Serb will be desperate to improve on his goal and assist tally from last year.
