The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been waxing lyrical about their young English midfielder, Mason Mount after his heroics for England’s U19 side yesterday. Mount scored and registered two assists in a 4-1 win. The creative midfielder is currently on-loan at Eredivisie side, Vitesse Arnhem who take a lot of Chelsea’s young stars on a temporary basis.
Chelsea have become infamous for loaning out dozens of players each season and failing to provide young prospects with first-team opportunities. Dominic Solanke and Nathaniel Chalobah both took steps towards gaining more first-team football when they left Stamford Bridge last summer for Liverpool and Watford respectively. Although the Chelsea fans will be hoping Mount is not one who goes looking for more consistent first-team football elsewhere.
19-year-old Mount has already scored seven goals and registered four assists in his 23 appearances in the Eredivisie for his temporary club this campaign and The Blues have been putting pressure on the club to give the young Englishmen a chance next season. The youngster chipped in with England’s equaliser yesterday and then set up a further two goals for Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson as England came out 4-1 winners over Hungary.

Why did we sign Barkley and not think about giving one of our own a chance to be the next lamps. Mason

Will end up somewhere like Fulham with Piazon bossing it each week while we make a profit. But please prove me wrong.
