The Real Truth About The Madrid Agreement Has Yet To Surface

I can exclusively reveal to Tavern readers of an another impending and bold PR move to be announced by Tottenham Hotspur Footbal Club. Audere Est Facere became To Dare Is To Do and this will soon become Nunquam Scienter Undersold.

We’ve more partners than John Lewis.

The partnership agreement will see the two Clubs working together in respect of players, coaching, best practices and commercial relationships.

But what does this actually mean?

Wading through many forums message boards and the social networks this morning there either appears to be a little common or garden confusion (thick people) or some classic Tottenham transfer window tetchy angst doing the rounds.

‘We’re now officially Real Madrid’s feeder club!’ Well, this accusation says more about the fragile mindset of those shouting , opposed to the rather harmless and potentially quite cool reality.

We also have a similar relationships in place with the Brazilian side Internacional, Hong Kong side South China, San Jose Earthquakes in the USA and South Africa’s Super Sport United. Now I don’t frequent these side’s online offerings, so I can neither confirm nor deny that upon hearing of their ‘relationship’ deals with Spurs their fans retreated beneath their kitchen tables and assumed the fetal position.

“The strong relationship and affinity between our two clubs has resulted in the cementing of a longer-term partnership and the successful transfer of Luka Modric. We are delighted to welcome Luka and look forward to working closely with Tottenham in the coming years.”

The reality is that this agreement is a just yet another quietly intelligent, mature and low key deal from the Club’s board. Football club ownership was once the province of failed second hand car dealers and other assorted ne’er-do-wells. You could argue that many of the same principals apply; it’s just the money that’s been upped. Far Eastern despots on the run, Oligarchs, Sheikhs and wannabe Bond villains now take up the modern mantel.

Getting shot of Luka Modric wasn’t desirable, but the Tottenham board played a blinder. To argue otherwise is …shall we say ambitious. You can’t make a player play. Footballer contracts are worth less the cost of the liberally consumed nitrous oxide consumed by the clowns that construct them.

But thankfully, you can still stipulate who you will sell to and who you will not. To quote one glorious line from many in Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. ‘Your money is no good here. Orders from the house.’ Given the utterly abysmal swap of Berbatov for ‘some mirrors and some beads’ , this deal is to Levy & Co.’s absolute and credit.

This transfer window closes in a matter of days. If you can’t cope, I don’t really don’t blame you but I equally I really don’t want to hear you. Nobody likes a whiner.

Harry Hotspur has redefined blogging. His typos have redefined language. His dreadful blog is here.

Well now, when it comes to football, one man has for many years been the most noticeable, the most controversial, and occasionally the most successful blogger this country has ever produced. His pithy words and abrasive style make him as famous off the pitch as he is on it. This man is Escapini. "I love football. Football she's a cruel mistress. She's, she's more than a mistress. She's a wife, she's a mother, she's a daughter, she's an errant child. She's a… she's a… she can make you laugh, she make you cry. She can bring tears me eyes. She can bring blood to me shoulders. She can bring a kettle to the boil." "Cause football is about nothing, unless it's about something and what it is about, is football."
