SAIC are the third largest Chinese motor car manufacturer. Their some 60,000 employees produce Rover, MG and Ssang Yong brands and in partnership they are involved in Volkswagon and General Motors.
So far, SAIC has put $930 million into developing and manufacturing clean energy vehicles. One-third of the investment will go to the research and development of green cars and the rest is to be invested in green technology vehicle and component manufacturing. SAIC will launch its hybrid Roewe sedans in 2010 and electric cars by 2012.
The company in 2009 declared an operating profit of £781,368,856.52 and a company logo that had not a drop of red in it.
