The striker and midfielder Arsenal simply need to sign to make them a force again

Despite the win over Sunderland, many of the fans at The Transfer Tavern are unsatisfied and feel that a busy summer is required in order to bolster the squad.

A 2-0 victory, three points and a clean sheet would usually be seen as a positive result, but this was far from that.

This wasn’t a normal match but one in which Arsenal were expected to ‘fight’ for their place in the Champions League next year.

One in which they knew may come down to goal difference against Liverpool and not to mention the fact it was against an already relegated 20th position side.

With the end of the season almost upon us, attention will be turned to the transfer market and many will be eagerly waiting to hear news of any new signings.

Wenger seems to have started early securing left back Sead Kolasinac and fans will be hoping for more to come.

So, here is the striker and midfielder we feel Arsenal MUST sign to ensure they return to being a team feared by many..

Antoine Griezmann

The French connection may help Arsenal secure the services of Griezmann, a player that has heavily been linked to Man United recently.

With 25 goals scored this season for Atletico and more league goals than Giroud and Welbeck put together, it is hard not to be impressed by the 26-year-old.

It is expected that Lucas Perez will be leaving the Emirates, featuring in just 11 league games and scoring just the once, which should free up some funds.

In line with Wenger’s typical signings, considering his technique and vision, the prospect of Griezmann linking up with the likes of Ozil and Sanchez is a very exciting one!

Blaise Matuidi

Currently playing for Ligue 1 giants PSG, Matuidi has the strength and ferocity that Arsenal have been lacking for the past few years now.

The central midfielder has been a regular feature this year and has managed an impressive five goals, bearing in mind it is his defensive qualities that has made him such a sought after player.

Initially brought in by PSG as a replacement for the retiring Makelele, Matuidi has proven to be one of the most complete central midfielders around.

With some fans here in the Tavern describing him as a “fighter” due to his solid, no-nonsense defensive approach, he is not one to shy away from initiating or being involved on the other end of the field when attacking.

With these two signings, Arsenal would be expected to really mount a title challenge.
