Arsenal have been in fine form this season, slowly and quietly going about their business, sneaking up the Premier League table.
After early dropped points against Liverpool and Leicester, Arsenal have galvanised themselves and have won 6 games on the bounce.
They made life difficult in the last couple of matches with narrow victories against Burnley and Swansea but at the end of the day, they came away with three points from both games and that’s all that matters as far as the table is concerned.
Wenger will be delighted with their form in the Champions League too. After a hard fought draw in Paris against PSG, they dismantled Basel and destroyed Ludogorets.
Arsenal tend to go on good runs like their current one before hitting a sticky patch.
It’s been part and parcel of an Arsenal season to let their good form fade away but right now, things are looking rosy and Wenger will want to keep his squad happy and fresh to deal with the upcoming challenges.
Keeping a squad happy though is no easy feat and the punters here at the Transfer Tavern think that Wenger must show these TWO Arsenal stars a bit more love…..
Alex Oxlade Chamberlain
The Englishman is not getting the game time he might believe he deserves.
He is frequently brought off from the bench, especially when Arsenal are chasing a goal or two, but he would hope for more starting berths in the Gunners first XI.
Whilst he no doubt acknowledges the depth of talent in the Arsenal squad which currently sees players such as Walcott, Ozil, Sanchez playing instead of him, there’s no doubt he’s probably disappointed when Iwobi gets the chance to start in front of him.
The 23-year-old has scored 8 league goals for the Gunners in 106 appearances since joining from the Saints in 2011.
he’s also featured 24 times for the national team but if Wenger doesn’t show him a bit more love and provide him with some more opportunities to impress, don’t be surprised to see him leaving the Emirates in the future.
Kieran Gibbs
Gibbs is another Englishman who is struggling to get into that Arsenal starting XI.
He has been superseded as left-back by Nacho Monreal who is now an established part of a strong back four including Koscielny, Mustafi and Bellerin.
The 27-year-old has played his whole professional career at Arsenal (barring a brief loan spell at Norwich). He has made 129 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 2 goals, one of which famously came in the North London Derby last season in which he salvaged a point for Arsenal.
However, the left-back’s game time has been significantly reduced over the past few seasons as he has been relegated to being a squad player.
Wenger could do with showing him a bit more love or like Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gibbs might start looking for a way out.
