Our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that next season they can fare a lot better in the league than they currently are. Indeed, after recent results, much of the good feeling picked up thanks to a title win last year has largely evaporated. 

The Blues so far this year have been very poor, slipping down and out of the top-four, being knocked out of the semi-final of the Carabao Cup and last 16 of the Champions League have all led to reports gathering pace that Antonio Conte is facing the axe at Stamford Bridge this summer.

However, next season Chelsea will be looking for Mo Salah-like inspiration from certain players of the group. After leaving Stamford Bridge, the Liverpool man has been a revelation upon his return to these shores and, considering the Blues’ array of attacking talent, some of their stars should look to emulate him.

Conte will be looking for big game performances each week from his players, and if he can turn this season around it could be the platform Chelsea need to kick on into next year.

That’s easier said than done of course, though the punters propping up the bar do believe the Blues have the kind of talent within their squad available to Conte, that can surge them on to their third league title in five years next campaign.

With that being said, our landlord has taken a closer look at TWO players that need to perform at ‘Mo Salah Level’ for Conte next season…

Pedro

Pedro has won literally everything there is to win in the game, though that shouldn’t mean his performances drop. Indeed, the Spaniard has seen his levels decrease over the last few months but few would doubt the quality his boasts when drifting in from wide areas.

Perhaps he’s not as explosive as Salah, though is someone capable of chipping with vital goals in such a fluid frontline, so should certainly be doing even more.

Eden Hazard

Much of Chelsea’s attacking prowess comes down to the little Belgian’s playmaking and creative attributes, something that would be sorely missed if he was to move on. Many in the pub think that Hazard needs to take the league by the scruff of the neck next season and, truly show why he is still one of the hottest properties in Europe.

If Hazard is in the mood, there’s no better stage on which to impress than that of the Premier League, he could prove the difference maker come to the end of May 2019.
