Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are very excited about the latest crop of youngsters coming through the ranks, and are hoping to see them for many years to come gracing the Anfield turf.

Liverpool at the moment seems to have a plethora of young British talent to choose from, who’ll be all looking to emulate the likes of Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Michael Owen. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp looks as if he will give youth a chance in his team, which can only benefit everybody involved.

However, our punters believe that sometimes a loan spell in the lower leagues can help build a players character and steel in his later years when they return to the club. In order for these two players to grow, a time away from the club, gaining much needed first team minutes and experience is vital at this stage of their careers.

Our landlord takes a look at two of Anfield’s youngsters that would benefit from leaving ASAP…

Ben Woodburn

The young Welshman really hit the headlines with his debut for both club and country, having broken Michael Owen’s record of being the youngest player to play for Liverpool. Alongside that, he scored the winner on his debut for Wales, in a match against Austria in the qualifying group stages for the World Cup in Russia. Woodburn needs first team minutes if he’s to continue on his current trajectory and a spell in the Championship looks a good fit.

Many of our regulars believe that a move to Sunderland, where his former international boss, Chris Coleman has recently just taken over would be the ideal move for him.

Rhian Brewster

The England striker has recently won the u17 World Cup and collected the trophy of the highest goal-scorer in the competition with eight goals. Which has capped off an incredible breakthrough year for the talented Liverpool forward, also back in April he was named on the bench for the first time against Crystal Palace.

Next year it seems that one of the brightest young prospects in English football at the moment can really build on his 2017 and only improve. At the right type of club, Brewster could really develop as a player over the next few years, with Liverpool benefitting in the future.
