Middlesbrough strengthened this summer and were arguably one of the best prepared of the promoted sides, much to the delight of the Riverside faithful propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern.

In 2014-15, ‘Boro fell at the final hurdle, losing to Norwich City in the play-off final.

Last season, however, they finally regained their place in the Premier League courtesy of a last-day draw at home to Brighton.

Spanish manager Aitor Karanka strengthened the Teessiders by signing experienced pros such as Victor Valdes and Alvaro Negredo as well as young players Adama Traore and Calum Chambers.

In fact, most of the summer arrivals were relative coups for a newly-promoted outfit.

All together, Boro actually signed eleven players, enough to fill a whole squad but that has meant that there have been a lot of fringe players left over in the squad.

Whilst Karanka has every reason to be happy with Boro’s start to the season, especially the impressive draws away at Arsenal and Manchester City, there is every chance that some members of the squad will feel like they need to move on to get regular football.

The guys at the Tavern think these TWO Boro players could be offloaded.

Jordan Rhodes

Rhodes burst on to the scene whilst he was at Huddersfield where he scored 87 goals in 148 appearances.

He led the Terriers to the Championship before departing and leaving for Blackburn Rovers despite interest from a lot of Premier League clubs.

Whilst he was prolific at Blackburn he was unable to guide the Rovers into the playoffs and instead moved to Boro in January last season, helping take the Teessiders to the Prem.

However, he has been restricted to only two appearances in the Premier League so far and is second fiddle to the other strikers including Cristhian Stuani and Alvaro Negredo.

He is a fantastic striker and could get opportunities elsewhere if he decided to move on.

Fabio Da Silva

The former Manchester United full-back was signed this summer for £2m from Cardiff City.

However, he has made only one appearance for the Boro and is second choice behind their other full backs, Antonio Barragan and George Friend.

Last season, when he was still at Cardiff, he scored a screamer at the Riverside and maybe Karanka was impressed with his performance and decided to snap him up.

However, the Brazilian has obviously not impressed enough because he cannot get a sniff at the moment.

He showed glimpses of his ability whilst he was at United and even started for the Red Devils during their 3-1 defeat against Barcelona in the Champions League final held at Wembley.

There’s no doubt that Fabio has a lot of ability but if he doesn’t get a chance soon, it may be better for Boro to offload him.
