Just a couple of months back, the West Ham supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern would have thought that their team was heading for a relegation battle this season, but recent good form has lifted the Irons away from the bottom three and into mid-table mediocrity.

The Hammers currently sit 10th in the Premier League table after five wins in their last seven top flight matches, including last weekend’s 3-1 triumph against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

With just a few days of the January transfer window left, attentions will now turn to whether there will be any arrivals or departures at the club before the deadline on Tuesday night – the landlord is certainly hoping for the former!

Manager Slaven Bilic has only made one major addition so far in the form of former Southampton captain Jose Fonte, but with Hull City’s Robert Snodgrass set to join the Portugese defender at the London Stadium, the fans standing at the bar will hope that the Scottish midfielder isn’t the last arrival before the month is out as United look to make a strong finish to the campaign.

The Hammers have been linked with a move for the in-form Brentford striker throughout the January transfer window, but it appears as though Slaven Bilic is finally closing in on a deal for the £15m-rated attacker before the deadline on Tuesday night – the fans standing at the bar will be concerned at the fee, but it is the premium you pay for an English player nowadays.

Until the return of Andy Carroll from injury in December, the Irons had struggled for goals this season and in Hogan they certainly have a proven marksman – the 24-year-old has scored 14 Championship goals for the Bees this term, but has been omitted from their squad in recent matches because of the interest from the Premier League club – the landlord will be predicting that this transfer will be tied up sooner rather than later.

Hasan Ali Kaldirim

According to reports on Thursday, West Ham are said to be targeting a move for the Fenerbahce left-back – the link will certainly be a cause of concern for the Irons fans standing at the bar though unless he is competition, and not a replacement, for Aaron Cresswell.

The 27-year-old Turkey international is out of contract in the summer and could be available for a reduced transfer fee if he is signed before the window slams shut on Tuesday.

After managing Fenerbahce’s Istanbul rivals Besiktas, Hammers boss Slaven Bilic will know the player well and would have been impressed with his performances in the Europa League group stages this term, as the Turkish giants beat Manchester United to top spot – the landlord sees this as a good value for money deal.
