Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern just do not know what is to come for them for the rest of the season.

Once again February has been the month where things have fallen apart as their title challenge and Champions League campaign looks in tatters.

Of course, they could still beat Bayern Munich 4-0 and progress but there is next to no chance of that actually happening.

Time, then, for damage limitation once again for the club and an FA Cup win is still on the cards with them playing Lincoln City in the next round.

Whether that even papers over the cracks remains to be seen, though, with the club still harbouring fundamental issues through their side.

With that in mind, then, here are the two weak links in the Gunners’ line-up – according to our landlord…

 Granit Xhaka

What a tremendous liability this man has been for Arsenal this season.

Signed in the summer as the man who would be the missing piece in the Gunners’ midfield, the man to bring some substance and steel to the style, Xhaka has been a loose cannon. Fouling like there’s no tomorrow and being ill-disciplined has led him to be a real flop so far.

 Nacho Monreal

Monreal tries hard and works hard to his credit but, when push comes to shove, he’s not good enough to play for a team like Arsenal.

He’s been caught out at times this season in the big games and that is invariably where Arsenal have come up short yet again this year. He’s not the only one to underperform in these fixtures, of course, but you cannot escape that left-back is the club’s weakest area.
