What a season it’s been for the Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern, who simply cannot believe just how well things are going under Brendan Rodgers right now. 

The Hoops are yet to lose domestically this term and look on course to land a historic treble during the former Liverpool coach’s first season in charge north of the border. With the Bhoys having failed to capture the imagination under Ronny Deila for two years, Rodgers’ work in creating an entirely new dimension mightily impressive.

Though little has been disappointing this season, everything about the Northern Irishman’s attitude in keeping this winning run going suggests he’s ready to rest on his laurels next term. While it’s hard to lay criticism at any of the Bhoys who’ve played so well this season, constant improvement will no doubt be on Rodgers’ mind.

So, considering all of this, here’s a look at TWO Celtic stars who’ve been a weak link this season.

Patrick Roberts

A hugely talented player, though Rodgers’ appointment last year must have been the worst thing that could have happened to both Roberts and parent club Manchester City.

The England U20 international is City’s talent and Rodgers has used him rather sparingly this season, instead focusing on developing his own players. And why not? Roberts will be off in the summer, so making him too big a part of the first-team setup would be rather pointless.

Leigh Griffiths

Again, perhaps another controversial selection. Still, Rodgers has publicly questioned Griffiths’ discipline to be a top level footballer, despite looking as fearsome as ever at time this term.

Would undoubtedly get into every other SPFL side, though the Scotland international could be doing more off the pitch to help his side, who are looking to build momentum ahead of the Champions League next season.
