These 2 players should follow Olivier Giroud to Chelsea this week if he joins

The Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for the club to bring in some new signings this January window.

After being linked with a host of target men across the Premier League and Europe, the latest surprise report is that of rivals Olivier Giroud. The Arsenal man has been reduced to substitute appearances this season, albeit coming on, on many occasion to find the back of the net.

The Frenchman is looking for more regular playing time in this World Cup year, with a move to Stamford Bridge looking like an attractive proposition. Indeed, Antonio Conte is in need of a player that can come off the bench to change a game alongside a player that can fill in for Alvaro Morata should he need the rest.

The Blues need strengthening in a couple of areas and our landlord takes a look at two players that could follow Giroud to the Bridge…

Philipp Max

Chelsea are in desperate need of a back up to the ever-present Marcus Alonso, as he continues to play nearly every match. This highlights Conte’s problem at Chelsea, with a serious strength in depth in the squad. The Augsburg left back Phillip Max is currently having a great season in the Bundesliga with eight assists and one goal in his 19 appearances so far.

With this type of return, Chelsea could get themselves a young and great alternative to Alonso.

Javier Hernandez

Chicarito made a name for himself at Man United for being a super sub, and this window for Conte should all be about building a squad with numbers for any type of situation that comes his way. In ‘the little pea’ Conte could have a player that has Premier League experience, a wealth of goals and a player that can sniff a goal out of most situations.

He’s a great plan C for the Italian as he looks to bolster his frontline.
