Southampton have a habit of producing some of the best talents in the game with the likes of Gareth Bale, Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain but for every two great players there is always one or two that just don’t quite make the cut.

It’s just the way things work out and for many young players it can often spell the end of their dream at the very highest levels of the game.

However, for whatever reason, even when some of the players just simply aren’t good enough the club hold on to them and either leave them to play in the reserves or consistently loan them out.

It’s time that Southampton began to clear out some of the dead wood, then, and not only that they need to allow the players to leave for the sake of their careers.

Whether it be for the better of the player or the club, these two Southampton players need to downgrade and move down a league…

LLOYD ISGROVE

The Welsh attacking midfielder has had plenty of successful loan spells away from the club in the lower divisions, with the likes of Peterborough and MK Dons, and now it’s time for him to make a move permanently.
The move could help to get his career back on track and also increase his chances of a re-call into the Welsh set-up at international level.

RYAN SEAGER

At 21-years-old Seager needs to be getting regular first team football and at Southampton he simple isn’t going to get that.

He has potential to be a quality striker, he just needs to be on the pitch to show what he’s capable of doing and whilst at the St. Mary’s club be simply won’t get that chance. Sometimes you have to go down to go up in football, just look at the likes of Jamie Vardy and Andre Gray now! A move to the Championship or League One could do him the world of good.
