The feeling among Sunderland fans in the Transfer Tavern is that of regular doom and gloom, following another season where there club is seemingly fighting against relegation.

Boss, David Moyes has struggled to turn things around for the Black Cats with a series of inconsistent performances which regularly result in defeat for the Scotman’s side.

Our landlord in the Tavern has certainly been trying to raise the mood of his Sunderland regulars however this has been easier said than done and there seems to be nothing he can do, especially when arch rivals Newcastle are looking more than likely to be the Black Cats’ replacement in the top flight, following a strong showing so far in the Championship.

In a last ditch attempt to raise morale, our landlord has actually started looking through Sunderland’s squad and outlining some players that he believes to have a bright future at the Stadium of Light, and could actually benefit from the club going down.

The only thing that he hasn’t mentioned is that they could also leave the club should a bigger club come knocking!

With all that said, here are the TWO players currently at Sunderland who could be worth big money in the years to come…

Jordan Pickford

The Sunderland shot-stopper was first choice at the Stadium of Light before he injured his knee at Christmas time.

The fact that he is English and a solid goalkeeper will work in Pickford’s favour should he look to branch out into the wider depths of the Premier League, but for now, Sunderland fans in the Transfer Tavern believe that they have unearthed a gem, and cannot wait for the 22-year-old to return from injury to help with the fight against relegation.

Duncan Watmore

Like Pickford, Watmore is currently out of action with injury since December after injuring his cruciate ligaments in his knee.

Watmore looked impressive before his injury and was a bright point in Moyes’ first half season in charge of the Black Cats.

His injury has been the curse of many Sunderland punters in the Transfer Tavern, who know that the future looks bright for Watmore, who seems to have the perfect balance of ability and desire to succeed in top flight football.
