The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern tonight know their club are renowned for passing up on quality players, they’ll be hoping to keep hold of these gems though.

Chelsea have a bit of a problem when it comes to not realising a player’s potential and them letting them go on the cheap only to come a regret quite soon after, De Bruyne and Lukaku to name a couple.

It is fair to argue that the Premier League champions have the most well-rounded squad in the division with strength in defence, midfield, and attack and with that strength, they will be looking to retain their Premier League crown next season.

Just like any other club however, Chelsea have a few quality players that are at risk of slipping through the cracks and becoming yet another ‘what could have been’ story for the London club. You may not be worried now, Chelsea fans, but think about it, did any of you really care that much when your club let Lukaku go? Didn’t think so, and now he will potentially become the most expensive player in the world if he re-joins you this summer.

On that note, here are two underrated Chelsea players who could go on to play a huge role next season…

Michy Batshuayi

Batshuayi was brought in for over £30 million last summer and has spent his season sat on the bench at Stamford Bridge which, if you look at his form at the tail end of last season when he was finally given a chance, is a real shame.

Not only did the Belgian striker score the goal that won Chelsea the title, but he managed five goals in only 235 minutes of action, a rate of around a goal every 46 minutes. With Costa looking set to leave and the first team spot opening up, you have to question why they don’t save their money, and give Batshuayi a chance.

Kenedy

The 21-year-old Brazilian missed out the majority of last season with a knee injury and because of that, endured a terrible loan spell with Watford that could have proven to be his breakout year. Unfortunately, the injury meant he only played 15 minutes of football before heading back to Stamford Bridge where he remained unused apart from a game against Watford, when the league was already tied up.

A pacey, strong wide midfielder who is good on the ball, Kenedy just needs that chance and whilst it may not be in the league, let him run riot in the FA Cup and League Cup, give him some first team football and let the kid show what he can do.
