These 2 underrated Swansea City players could play a huge part next season

After completing his first assignment in keeping Swansea in the Premier League, Paul Clement will now be tasked with lifting his side towards the middle of the table – something the Swans in the Transfer Tavern want to see.

Swansea are about to begin their 7th consecutive season in the top flight of English football, an achievement matched by only a handful of clubs of a similar stature.

Competition for places is hotting up, with the signing of three players already this summer. Clement’s side, who begin their season with a tough trip away to Southampton already have Las Palmas midfielder Roque Mesa to call upon and Dutchman Erwin Mulder has also joined on a free.

Meanwhile, Clement now has options up front after the club fought off Newcastle to the signing of Tammy Abraham from Chelsea.

Down at the Transfer Tavern, we’ve been debating how Swansea could line up this season. And we’ve picked out TWO underrated players who could play a huge part next season…

Jefferson Montero

The winger appeared to be making huge strides the season before last, but Jefferson Montero’s career has stalled. Injury set backs and poor form has held the Ecuadorian back, so much so that he was only afforded two Premier League starts last season.

If the winger can return to the sort of form that had him in everyone’s fantasy teams, he could achieve great things with Swansea this season.

Leon Britton

The centre-midfielder’s ball retention is only second to the very best, but games still come at a premium. The Englishman made just 16 appearances for Swansea last season, but was recalled in April where Swansea went on to take 7 points from 9 to see them safe.

The Londoner has represented Swansea in every division and now has such a strong affiliation with Wales and the Swansea faithful.
