These 2 West Ham United fringe players need to be offloaded very soon

The West Ham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are expecting a very busy January transfer window…

West Ham’s move to the London Stadium has been full of hurdles thus far, and after a particularly difficult opening few weeks – West Ham appear to be past the worst of their troubles.

A couple of half-decent results over the last few weeks have got the Hammers back on track somewhat, and the West Ham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are feeling optimistic about the season ahead.

Slaven Bilic has been lamented somewhat by the West Ham faithful in attendance after a pretty poor showing over the summer, and they are expecting him to put that right in the new year.

However, in order to produce the funds necessary to sign new players, Bilic must sell – and our landlord thinks that he could look towards a few of the Hammers’ fringe players as a starting point.

With that said, these TWO West Ham fringe players that need to be offloaded very soon…

Alvaro Arbeloa

Alvaro Arbeloa only joined the Hammers over the summer, but thus far he has done very little to prove that he is ready to play a significant role in the season ahead.

He has made just 2 Premier League starts so far, and as West Ham’s key players slowly begin to return from injury – his chances are only going to reduce.

At 33-years-old, he was only ever going to be a short-term defensive solution – but our landlord doesn’t think Slaven Bilic was expecting his run to be this short.

He isn’t going to play, so a sale makes sense.

Diafra Sakho

Diafra Sakho is a slightly different case to Arbeloa in that, when available, he is fairly likely to play a role in the West Ham first team.

However, in truth, he should only be a fringe player in the West Ham squad – and the episode over the summer did very little to suggest that his long-term future should remain at the London Stadium.

He isn’t likely to play week-in-week-out, and a sale, at this point, looks like the best move for the attacker.

He had no shortage of suitors over the summer, so Bilic should have no trouble selling him in the new year.
