If there’s one thing that has disappointed the large majority in the Football Transfer Tavern, it’s the lack of a final day title race between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
The latter fell to defeat last Friday against noisy neighbours West Ham United, and the Blues picked up a victory at home to Middlesbrough on Monday.
That isn’t the only thing Spurs supporters will be disarrayed about; fans by the bar have been reminiscing over their favourite memories of the current White Hart Lane, which is nearing a goodbye as the club will compete at home in Wembley Stadium for next season.
Saying that, the north London outfit are going from strength to strength as there’s a promising number of talents coming through the youth academy.
Here are TWO young Tottenham Hotspur stars that must be given the chance to impress in the final games of the season…..
Marcus Edwards
Marcus Edwards has only tasted professional football just once in the early stages of his career so far, coming on as a substitute in Spurs’ 5-0 thumping over Gillingham in the EFL Cup.
The 18-year-old attacker, who can play down the centre or out on the wing, is just one of a handful of talents trying to break into the first-team and here at the Football Transfer Tavern we think this youngster really is the real deal.
Now that Tottenham Hotspur barely have anything to fight for, the manager should experiment ahead of another promising campaign next year by introducing Edwards to some game time this side of the summer.
Josh Onomah
The 20- year-old was one of two young players to be handed their debuts in 2016 by boss Mauricio Pochettino, alongside Harry Winks, but out of the duo it’s Josh Onomah who’s struggle to make the step up.
Our Spurs-mad bar man loves the philosophy the manager has implemented that youngsters deserve their chance, but Onomah has been left to tread water in the under-23 squad.
The midfielder has featured in five top-flight matches for the club this season but he shouldn’t be satisfied with that, and must push for more minutes on the pitch before the campaign comes to an end.
