After a truly disappointing season last year, Chelsea need to rebuild this summer under new boss Antonio Conte.

Whilst there is a lot of talk about potential incomings at the club, the Landlord of the Football Transfer Tavern thinks there is something more important for the Blues as they look to rebuild; departures.

Whilst the whole team did perform badly last year; each game dictated a trend of certain players that simply failed to step up to the plate completely, offering nothing as their team fell to a loss.

This is something that the incoming Italian will not stand for; and our Landlord thinks it will mean some big names leaving the club this summer.

Here are THREE Chelsea players that are definitely fighting for their future. 

Nemanja Matic

Nemnja Matic’s in West London future may well be written on the wall already.

Despite a fantastic first year on his return to the Blues, last season was one to forget for the Serbian.

Offering nothing in midfield, and often at fault for conceded goals, many fans would be happy to see the midfielder out of the club this summer.

N’Golo Kante seems to have been signed in direct competition with the 27-year old, making the transfer seem all the more likely.

The midfield bruiser himself also seems happy to leave the club, meaning it could be best for all parties.

No doubt the club would retain him on the off chance that he regains his best form; but if it is best for business, he will no doubt be on the move.

Loic Remy

During his first year with the club, Loic Remy was a player that could be relied on.

Constant injuries to Diego Costa meant that the Frenchman would often be drafted in as second choice, and he gained quite the reputation in the Transfer Tavern, with the West London locals pleased to see him score goals when given the chance.

Last year was one to forget for the former Newcastle United and QPR man, however.

Dropping to fourth choice striker and failing to do anything noteworthy in the occasional game time that he did get, the forward has seen his stock drop.

With the club looking to reinvent their strike force with the signing of Michy Batshuayi; there could be no space left for Remy.

He could do a job with a mid-table team, and unless he can prove himself during pre season – it may be the end of his Chelsea career.

Branislav Ivanovic

Branislav Ivanovic has been a fantastic servant to Chelsea, but the Blues fans in the Transfer Tavern have simply had enough of him.

He was at fault for weekly-conceded goals last year; with teams frequently exploiting the right hand side of the club’s shaky defence. Ivanovic used to command that right hand side, though those days look to be over.

He has shown no signs of improvement so far in pre-season, and with Conte reportedly looking at new right backs; it could mean the end for Ivanovic.

He could still do a job in central defence; but as a right back – it is over.

It has to be.
